Aubrey's first week of Preschool

It has been a while since we have been trying to get Aubrey into preschool. We have noticed that she has not been talking as much as she should be. We decided to get her evaluated with the school district and she was just evaluated on the 26th of august. She did well but there were things of course she could not do. We leave and set an appt. to see the results and find out if she qualifies for services under speech delay. Then that afternoon, I got a call from the school saying they have an opening and she can come to school the very next day if we come and fill out the paperwork to register. I jumped on it and now she is doing well and learning the things she needs to be learning. She loves it so much and always asks when she can go. These are of her first school outfit. She picked out everything including her hairstyle. I love this little girl.

Colby's first haircut

These are of Colby before we got his first haircut. We cut his hair on August 3, 2013 and he cried the whole time it went on.

What a sad little boy. Little guy, it is almost over.
Here is the handsome little man that we have now. I am so grateful for my little guy.

Colby turns one!!!

Colby has been a blessing in our lives. He turned my world upside down. Before I found out we were pregnant with him two months earlier I signed a contract for a job working as a special ed. teacher. I was excited to get out and teach but then about two weeks into the school year, I found out we were expecting a baby and at first, I was not excited because everything was going to change eventually and we had just done the change thing. Although it was hard to accept Heavenly Father's will in my life and my family's life, it was the best thing for us. Neal found a job about 2 months before i was supposed to have Colby and that was a real blessing to us so that I would be able to be home. when he came I was immediately in love. I was ready to leave work so I could stay home with my now two great kids. Fast forward to now, I would never of met the people I have or had the experiences I have if it wasn't for the wonderful little man in my life. Without further ado, there are the pictures of his birthday party we did for him at home. We had a birthday lunch of french fries, green beans and fish sticks. He seemed to enjoy it all. we opened presents and had cake and ice cream. We are also having a party for him on the 13th with friends and family at the park. Happy Birthday Colby!!!Your family loves you so much and so excited for the next year and all that you will become. WIll post pictures from the party on saturday too. Stay tuned.

Here he is all clean and ready for breakfast and a full day of birthday fun.
Also on your birthday, we do a birthday waffle breakfast and we did them blue since he likes blue. We sure enjoyed them.
We also had a great birthday snack of animal crackers. We all are loving those. These are his gifts we got him and they were some plastic trucks and dinosaur figures and books and a ball. He had lots of fun.
What I did for his cake was I made a standard 9x13 cake and then cut it into a rounded cake and neal and i worked on it together. We had a lot of fun. When it came time to sing, we just gave him the entire cake minus one piece for everyone first. As you can see he loved it.

It is not a first birthday if it doesn't get in your hair right? Great shot...

Here is aubrey enjoying her cake and icecream too.

Easter with the Reiersens

Easter was really fun at our house with our two being a little bit older now. Aubrey knows that you find the eggs and there is something inside them. I had to tell her a few times to stop picking the eggs and getting the candy out and putting the eggs back. I must say she is very smart. Colby had lots of fun too. He kind of knew what was going on but Aubrey would help him when he needed it, especially when it came to getting the eggs in the basket. We had an Easter eggs hunt of our own, then one with our ward activity and one when we went to Easter dinner with some friends. We had a great surprise on the day before Easter with a package from Neals family with candy for the kids and little things for them to enjoy. We also got a package from m dd and they were Easter outfits and we were so excited and so were the kids and these are the clothes they wore to church on Easter. i am so grateful to family that are always there for my family.

After our own hunt we were surprised by the Easter bunny with a prize for finding all the eggs. Everyone got one and loved them.

Christmas 2012 at the Reiersen's

This Christmas was very eventful at our place. This year was the first year that we didn't go to see my family for Christmas in the 4 years that we have been married, so in the weeks leading up to Christmas I was a bit worried how it was going to go since I was not able to see my family but it turned out great. Neal's parents came down on the 23rd to Phoenix to spend Christmas with us. We were able to go see the temple lights, go to the Arizona Science Center and watch movies together and Neal and I  along with Adam and Christine, Neal's sister were able to go on a date while his parents watched the kids. We had so much fun with family. I did talk to most of my family on Christmas and that was nice to talk to them. I realize that no matter how far away we are, we are still family and we love each other. This Christmas eve, we went to Christine's house and we had a big turkey dinner and then we always open a present on Christmas eve, which is pajamas and the kids loved being with their cousins and grandparents.

This is is the first year we were able to do our own Christmas day on our own. It was so fun. The kids were up at 6:30 am wanting to do presents. They had lots of fun opening their stockings and eating oranges. Neither of the kids got chocolate but Aubrey got oranges and grape tomatoes and fruit snacks and capri sun drinks. Neal and I had decided that it was the best thing to do is give things that they don't normally get and those things neither of them get very often. Colby got some chex in his stocking with oranges. He had fun though too. It was really the best to watch your kids open presents. It was also the first time that Aubrey understands Santa (at least a little bit) that we got all the presents ready and set out in front of the tree and it was cool to see the kids face when they saw the presents. Aubrey got the purple dog in the picture and then colby got a glow worm and a little touch pad that plays music.

Here are colby's santa gifts the touch pad and the glow worm. He had lots of fun with them.

They also got a nativity set from my mom and a kids mp3 player. Colby got some blocks from my mom. They got to play with them a lot and just be together.
Colby had fun opening presents for the first time. He was so cute to watch. Aubrey knew what to do and she was fun to watch also.

Neal and I didn't exchange any presents, but we were able to have as much fun with our children as we would have if we got each other something. We had a strict budget for Christmas presents and we did really well on it all. We did get kitchen stuff and a food processor and I got some books and Neal got a new shirt and some gum from our family. We also got a game from Neal's brother and then Neal's sister gave us a nice Christmas decoration. We have been so blessed this year as a family and are so grateful for the experiences that we have had as a family. We are so lucky to have each other and what we have been so fortunate to accomplish.
